Hosting a Language Assistant in your school is an ideal way to improve language learning for your students.
Applications are open

Applications for the 2016-17 academic year are open.

To access the application form, schools and local authorities must register with Schools Online. If you are a local authority school, please check with your local authority who may have submitted an application on your behalf to avoid a duplicate record.

In order to guarantee a suitable language assistant will be available and allocated to your school, please submit your application before 31st May 2016.

Applications submitted after this date will still be accepted and we will endeavour to meet your school’s requirements, but this cannot be guaranteed.

What is a Language Assistant?

Language assistants are native speakers of French, Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese and Irish. They can work with your students to improve their language skills and boost their confidence.

Language assistants can help your class by preparing students for oral examinations, taking the lead on language lessons, working with teachers on class projects, contributing to cross-curricular learning, and much more.

What are the benefits?

Language assistants bring fresh ideas and energy to a classroom. They have just arrived from a native-speaking context and will be up-to-date on their local culture and news, meaning they are best placed to work with students on developing their conversational skills and increasing their awareness and understanding of another culture.

Visit the Modern Language Assistant site and find out more about hosting one at your school.
