Design a Football Remembers poster

Enter our Find a Footballer competition and your pupils' work may be featured at the National Football Museum

The Find a Footballer Poster competition is a creative way of engaging young people with history through football. By taking part in this fun and easy classroom activity from the Football Remembers Education Pack  your pupils’ work could be displayed at the National Football Museum in Manchester or the Hampden Museum in Glasgow.


The Find-a-Footballer Poster competition is run by the British Council, Football Association, Football League, Premier League, and the National Football Museum. 


How to take part

Participating is easy: simply create a profile of a First World War footballer and present your research as a poster.

How to enter

To enter you need to:

  1. Take photos or scans of your posters or provide a link to a photograph or scan of the posters

Then tweet them to: 

  • @BritishCouncil
  • @FootballMuseum or directly to @Hampden_Museum if you are a Scottish school.

Use the hashtag #FootballRemembers in your tweet

You also need to include:

  • The first name(s) of the pupil(s) who created the poster
  • Their year group.

You can enter as many times as you like. 

If the entrants are under 18 his/her/their entry must be submitted by a teacher over the age of 18 who in submitting the entry agrees to and accepts the competition rules.


Prizes and selection of winning entry 

The winning designs will be selected from the images received via Twitter by a panel of judges appointed by the the National Football Museum. 

Winning designs will be displayed at the National Football Museum in Manchester and also on the website of the National Football Museum.


Three chances to win

The competition launches on 8 September 2014 and the final closing date is 22 May 2015. Any entry received before the opening date or after the final closing date will not be included in the Competition. 

There are three deadlines for the competition, and a group of winners will be selected from each round. These deadlines are:

  • 24 October 2014
  • 13 February 2015
  • 22 May 2015.

The Competition winners will be notified within a week after the deadline. Please keep the original posters.
